Studio BKA is a local New Orleans architecture and design firm that combines the unique talents of husband-and-wife team Ben Allen and Kim Payne Allen, bringing their experience with award winning firms on projects of all sizes to a single architectural practice.
The architectural practice focuses on the intersection of creativity and technology by means of virtual exploration of designs. This approach leads to imaginative, purposeful problem solving with technical building experience. By developing a unique design ethos for every project, and using it as a guide to edit and refine, Studio BKA strives to provide a service that moves beyond the notion that architecture is a luxury. Rather, they maintain that it is a financial net add to any size or type project's value, both during construction and in the value of the finished product.
Ben Allen, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP
Ben has over 13 years of architectural experience on a wide range of projects from single-family residential to high-end institutional buildings, for both public and private clients. He brings a love of contextual and sustainable design to New Orleans after working in Central Texas, Dallas, and New York City. Combining this with his background in technology allows Studio BKA to leverage the latest in design software to help clients visualize their project and optimizing it for their particular values and needs, while also identifying and solving problems before construction begins.
Kim Payne Allen, AIA
Kim has a wide range of experiences from large scale developments to small luxury retrofits. After working under the direction of nationally recognized firms for over a decade in New York City, she returned to her native New Orleans in 2014 to start her own practice with a focus on hotels, restaurants, single-family residential, mixed-use commercial and retail scopes. Kim's past projects have been published in NYTimes, Hospitality Design Magazine, and Architectural Digest. Kim is a registered architect in Louisiana and New York.
